Writing Resources for EDUC 6005 Foundations: Early Childhood Studies: Week Six

Tips on Reading Critically

Week Six:

This week's coursework is all about evaluating and analyzing the content of academic sources. This is the next step after determining whether a source is appropriate to use in academic writing. You will need to think critically about the sources you are summarizing and evaluating for this week's application. Critical thinking is something that comes with practice, and it starts with reading. As you read this week's resources,

  • List the key points of the chapter or article.
  • Reflect on the key points and jot down questions. Does anything surprise you or make you curious?
  • Draw conclusions from your notes and questions. What are they saying overall?
