Redirect_Academic Skills Center Tutoring Services: LiveChat! Policies

Who Works on LiveChat!

Tutors from the Academic Skills Center Tutoring Services work these chat shifts and are available to answer your questions. We’re offering this new service as a pilot to determine whether students find it useful. If you are interested in LiveChat! be sure to try it and let us know! You can also e-mail for assistance (e-mails are answered within 24 hours) to wordsupport@mail.waldenu.edu or powerpointhelp@mail.waldenu.edu.

Types of Questions We Answer

During chat, we can answer questions about formatting documents, creating tables, attaching files/media, Table of Contents, navigation and other technical issues in Word or PowerPoint. We can also answer questions about Academic Skills Center Tutoring Services and resources, including one-on-one tutoring, webinars, and web resources.

  • If you want to learn about Word and PowerPoint basic navigation and features, you will want to make an appointment with a tutor.  The chatter’s goal of this service is to answer questions, not teach new skills. So, students who desire to learn a new skill should make a tutoring appointment. You can learn more about how to make an appointment on the Academic Skills Center Tutoring website

Time and Pacing

During chat, we are often working simultaneously with many students. Because of this, you might have to wait while we finish up another conversation or complete a task. Please be patient and know that we are eager to help as soon as we are able. If it is taking too long for us to get back to you and you don't want to wait, please e-mail wordsupport@mail.waldenu.edu with Word questions or powerpointhelp@mail.waldenu.edu with PowerPoint questions.

Non-Walden Students

Although we are happy to talk with all learners about Word and PowerPoint, we must prioritize questions from Walden University students.  Also, although many of our resources are open access and available to all learners some of our resources are limited to the Walden community. Because of this, please let us know if you are a non-Walden student early in your chat conversation so that we can provide you with appropriate resources.

Violations of Walden University's Code of Conduct

Students will abide by Walden University’s Code of Conduct, and we reserve the right to end any conversation that becomes "disruptive, threatening, unethical, disrespectful, or abusive."
