Some academics swear by it, others are skeptical, but one thing is clear, everyone wants to know how to read faster and more efficiently without missing important details in the text. If you’re interested in exploring this brave new world of speed reading, we recommend Spreed, a free Google Chrome extension. With Spreed, not only can you absorb online material faster (the software says you can increase your word count from 200 words-per-minute to “easily” 400), but you can also enter in your own work via the “Paste Text Into Spreed” option.
If you’re not thrilled with Spreed, you may want to check out its competitor, Readsy. It offers a similar approach to speed reading, but claims to be a little less intrusive, allowing you to simply double click on a word to begin.
